About

The idea to start a record label was born in late 2006 while mixing curry paste and bloody marys on a typical friday night in the Lower Haight neighborhood of San Francisco. The three of us (Lydia White, George Cochrane and Jay Heiselmann) were lamenting the lack of any really compelling local scenes that fit us just right, and brewing up ideas for new music and art projects. We knew that our ideas would be stronger together, and what brought everything together for us was our weekly dinner parties. The Dinner Party was born.

The Dinner Party collective grew quickly with the help of a weekly radio show on pirate radio station West Add Radio. Guitarist/producer Roland Curtis, DJ/activist Vanessa Carr (Van Carr), producer/creative developer Shawn Allen (Compulse) , and producer/visual artist Matt Ken-Stoll Cubik) soon became a part of the core group, adding to the creative resources and energy mounting around our projects. Around the same time, Snoppyquop Recording Studios was opened by close friends Johnny Flores and Patrice Speed, providing a new home for our creative ideas to manifest themselves.

We are still in the early stages of this project but momentum is strong. Our first record release was June 5th, 2007 with many more releases, parties, and creative projects on the way.
